J2J 02:12
Went down to the river Oh to wash my sins away But I heard the calling And I couldn't stay Now I've been wanderin' All across this land From the banks of the Jordan To Jerusalem My eyes are open And what do I see Such pain and suffering In Galilee I'll spread my message I’ll share my dream From the mountains to the city Come and join the Nazarene My feet are blistered My clothes are torn I've walked for miles To get myself born Yeah I've been wanderin' All across this land From the banks of the Jordan To Jerusalem

Suffer for your sins it’s all that you know Fear the mighty hand it’s all that you know Lest it curse the earth it’s all that you know Famine in the land it’s all that you know Serve a jealous god it’s all that you know Burn the golden calf it’s all that you know Poverty and shame it’s all that you know Sorrow to the grave it’s all that you know Thou shall love always with thy heart and soul it’s all that I know Not in tongue but in deed and of the truth it’s all that I know many first will be last and last be first it’s all that I know … and all things are possible it’s all that I know

Stars Shine 03:46
Do you understand when I say to you that everything on earth is for all of us? Not a few… And when you see the world as a gift of love Then everything you own is on loan, so you must let it go Some say the stars shine for all of us It’s not that so unbelievable Do you think it’s wrong? Cuz I know it’s not It just seems that way cuz it’s dangerous… So you’ve heard Have you heard some say the stars shine for all of us? It’s not that so unbelievable Yeah, I say the stars shine for all of us It’s not that so unbelievable Now forget your pride Or forget there’s suffering And challenge all that you know Embrace your life You’re part of everything Forever and ever Some say the stars shine for all of us It’s not that so unbelievable Yeah I say the stars shine for all of us Isn’t that so very beautiful I say the stars shine for all of us Isn’t that now up to you?

Mariamne 02:28
Oh Mariamne You look so lovely I got this feeling Come on let's talk about it I'm just a man made Of flesh and bone and I feel ecstatic Why can’t we talk about it? Cuz I can think of Seven reasons That you’ll forgive me If you would just forgive yourself And when you're near me My heart is bursting And when you're far I feel like I'm sinking like a stone Like a stone I've spent my whole life looking for answers So many questions and so much controversy What are we doing? Where are we going? Is there a reason? Will we ever really know? But Mariamne, it doesn't matter without compassion If we can’t look beyond ourselves… I almost missed it. Oh Mariamne… But when it struck It left me feeling like I'm stoned Like I'm stoned

M Coda 00:31
Oh Mariame To me they look so lonely Like their one and only had been taken from their hands Oh Mariamne To me you look so lovely I know you’ll save me from the world upon my back

Devotion isn’t what I desire You can say I’m a liar But you’d be wrong You think you need a miracle weaver I’m a magic believer In earthly tones And I may be a “nobody” But I’m everyone who knows That every day we witness Signs and wonders For you I’ll offer this invitation to be staggered by nature and crushed by love And you determine if you’ll accept it But if you must reject it then let me know Well… what would happen if you could relax and let it flow? Then every day you’d witness Signs and wonders When you think about it don’t be too concerned Try not to laugh aloud but you could even witness what you’ve learned Everywhere… Signs and wonders

Parable 03:12
Once there was a mighty king who ventured all his faith On money, land, and shiny things but not his people's fate Everything seemed, everything seemed like a dream A brilliant crown of gold that glimmered in the sun But no one cared as he grew old despite all he had won Everything seemed, everything seemed like a dream He should have left it but he couldn't let go.... The more he gained the more he lost And so to his great shame He carried on despite the cost and sullied his good name But everything seemed like a bad dream On the day that he was turned upon by those who were cast down And soon uneasy hung the head that bore his golden crown Everything seemed, everything seems like a dream He shoulda left it but he couldn't let go....

Hymn 03:18
Oh, Father, don't you know that I would love to kiss her mouth And settle in a quiet place where I would build our house Then she would mend the garden while I tended to the sheep We'd glory in each other’s love and pray our souls to keep I dream at night of building her a glorious marriage bed Within in a tree where we could see the stars above our heads The roots that fuse our love would grow so deep into the earth That every morning would seem like a moment of rebirth Oh, Father, don't you know I think my time is running out And would it be so wrong for me to kiss her on the mouth And grow a seed inside her in our own immaculate way In honor of the simple things let's bow our heads and pray Hallelujah!

Phony 02:57
What makes you think…? How can you…? Oh… forget about all that you want Cuz all that you need Is more than you know And as for now All you’ve shown me is you’re nothing but a phony Happy to make believe that you’ve put your faith in something So deceitful How can I make you see that When you say that you know me You’re just another phony You criticize, censure, and preach And seem so proud Maybe in time You’ll be ashamed of your conceit But as for now… You're a phony You're nothing but a phony Happy to make believe that You’ve put your faith in something So deceitful How can I make you see that When you say that you know me You're just another phony

How Long? 04:59
Love, I gave it my best I never guessed You would pay me back in kind Now, I'm tattered and torn Threatened and thorned And I'm running out of time This Is over and done We are still one And I know you're always there Still, I'm down on my knees Split into threes I guess that's my cross to bear How long? How long? How long will we carry on? Now, they understand That I'm just a man Oh, and I can come to harm Yet, I still believe I'll be received In your ever-lasting arms How long? How long? How long will we carry on? How long? etc. How long will this carry on? How long will we carry on?

Elijah 03:07
Songs of love and devotion Spring forth from my heart For the kingdom of heaven Is right where you are As you love your new baby… Or the neighbor who’s driving you crazy… Or a stranger who needs you Give your love and you make me complete If you go astray I’ll be the way and the light Guiding you back to your own place and time Can you find peace of mind Knowing wherever you are Triangulates from my heart to the great forever? What a wonderful notion This infinite love How can something so sacred be so terrible? It’s a gift that connects us To remind us that life is so precious So I hope you remember I am here for you Always And please… If you go astray I’ll be the way and the light Guiding you back to your own place and time Can you find peace of mind Knowing wherever you are Triangulates from my heart To the eyes above?

Good News 01:57
Empires and emperors These things can be replaced I’ll tell you now the story of Someone so full of grace Everything seemed… Everything seemed like a dream or distant memory Remember when he came? Not bathed in light but simply put Was cleansed of our disgrace Everything seemed Everything seemed like a dream

about

Finding inspiration in a thematic concept from their friend, John Hanley, the Huseman brothers picked up their guitars and pens in 2011 to begin the four-year journey of writing and producing Good News. The album is the first to feature Brandt and Matt singing all the vocals and playing most of the instruments (along with a helping hand from Splitsville member, Paul Krysiak, on several tracks). It delivers everything you would want and expect from a Huseman Brothers' collaboration -- irresistible pop hooks, inventive arrangements, clever lyrics, and soaring vocals. Looking for some good news to brighten your day? It's waiting for you, right here, with Good News by The Stereo Twins.

MATT
John and I had discussed working on a musical project for a while, and he finally reeled me in with an intriguing concept based on the teachings of Jesus from the New Testament. I said I'd do it if I could get Brandt on board and if we could stay away from being too didactic. Based on John's dense proposal for the album's direction and lyrical structure, I initially proposed some pop songs reminiscent of our earlier work with The Greenberry Woods, while Brandt expanded our musical palette with a variety of songwriting styles. What we ended up with is something both comparable to, and a radical departure from, anything my brother and I have attempted before.

BRANDT
I welcome any opportunity to make music with my brother and I thought John's premise for the album would be fun to dig into. Matt and I are both (amateur) students of religious history and have been fascinated by the story of Jesus of Nazareth. John laid down a compelling narrative and we ended up sticking pretty close to the concept, with some changes to the lyrical ideas. Most of the basic tracks were created on the fly, without a lot of analysis. I think this gives the album a looser feel. All in all there is a good mix of styles and the album is a fun listen.
